The Evening of the Rabbit Rescue!

Hello Internet,

My roommate called to tell me the neighbor's rabbit was hopping about - someone must have left the cage open. I was at my parents' house, not enjoying NASCAR, so my decision to capture the creature seemed highly beneficial to me, the bunny, and the heart of a little girl, as yet unbroken by the sight of a pet-turned-roadkill.

Convincing the black-and-white ball of fur to re-enter its cage was easy. I have to say it seemed much more bewildered than excited about the concept of freedom. It was doing its best to hide behind a small bicycle on the porch, maybe six feet from its home. I simply moved the bike. After a bit of rearranging and maneuvering, the little critter hopped right back where it belonged.

I shall not inform the neighbors of this adventure. My closest friend, a stalwartly Catholic mother of three, was exhorting the virtues of secretly doing favors for people. I think it's a strange notion - what do you get out of them not knowing you did? But I'm trying it anyway. I am a superhero, after all. My identity may not be a secret, but I can't be running around defending the universe properly if I have to stop and explain what I did every time I do something.

I got my Dad a Wii motion-plus for Father's Day. I ordered a game for it, but it's not out yet. It will be soon.

Today is the six-month anniversary of my fiancee leaving me. Mine is a heart-turned-roadkill. I am clinging desperately to the knowledge that the aforementioned friend loves me very much and that while certain self-destructive impulses are growing stronger, there may be more small mammals to protect in the future.
